Every backup, every day, for the last 30 days.
The Backup Matrix gives each backup job a row and each of the last 30 days a cell, coloured by that day's result. A job that fails every Tuesday, or went quiet a week ago, shows as a pattern instead of a single status.
What each cell means.
Days are calendar days in the workspace timezone. A result counts on the day it was reported, so a backup that starts at 23:30 and reports at 00:40 counts on the second day.
A day with a failure stays Failed even when a retry succeeded later that day, so a retry never hides a failure. A day is Missed only when the missed-report check flagged the backup: a quiet day is never called Missed on a guess.
Days before a job was monitored are left blank: Not monitored yet.

A strip above the grid counts the jobs with issues, the failed runs, the missed days and the days without data for the window and filters you have chosen. Click the first one to show only those jobs.
- Window
- 30 days at a time. ‹ Previous and Next › move a whole window, Window ends on picks the last day, and Today comes back.
- Filters
- Search jobs, clients or devices; pick a client or a device; filter by current status (Now: Failed); or tick Only jobs with issues.
- Sort
- Client, then job; Most issues first; or Job name. 50 rows a page.
- Keyboard
- The arrow keys move between cells; Home and End jump to the first and last day.
- Who
- Every role, viewers included.
Open a day to see what was reported.
Click a cell and a panel lists that day’s runs for the job: when each result was reported, the result, the size, and the report email it came from. If the missed-report check flagged the job that day, the panel says at what time.
Report emails do not carry start times or durations, so the panel shows when each result arrived. Open backup job goes to the job’s own page.
A job that fails on one weekday
Shows as Failed cells seven days apart along its row, where the jobs list only shows the latest status.
A job that went quiet
Shows as a run of Missed cells from the day the missed-report check flagged it until a report arrives.
The month for a client
Filter to the client before a review and step back a window to compare with the month before.
What it does not do.
- How far back it goes follows your plan's history. Older days show as No data.
- The window is always 30 days, and a page shows 50 rows.
- It shows when results were reported, not when backups started or how long they ran.
See a month of your own backups.
Point a client's backups at BackupSentinel and the Matrix fills in a day at a time.
